Stacy Solodkin

Stacy Solodkin is an abstract artist currently working primarily in ceramics and fiberclay and acrylics.  Raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Stacy has been drawing and painting since she was a child.  Trained as a fine artist she earned a scholarship to the Art Institute of Chicago.  Her path veered when she fell into acting and eventually moved out to Venice, California to pursue and acting career.

After many years in California working in television and film, Stacy felt the longing for her art.  From the moment she started painting again, thinking this was "just for her," she had opportunitied knock.  After a few group shows, Stacy's studio was featured in the Venice Art Walk for three years.  Her work is in the homes of many private clients in LA and she has placed commissioned paintings in restaurants in Scottsdale, AZ, Tampa, FL, Austin, TX and San Diego, CA.

Stacy says "the work is always a collaboration with myself, the materials, and all the ideas floating around looking for a home...a place to manifest.  A little woo woo I know.  My best works come from trust, experimentation and intuitive impulse.  And if I'm patient and let go of the could haves or should haves and just listen softly the spark of an idea whisks me away and grounds me in the moment.  It may be just the thought of a color or shape or an image but I just go with it and then we figure it out together.  The end result shows how good of a listener I was."

For Stacy, entering her studio is a time of letting go: of expectations, of structure, of rules, and of her own ideas about what's possible and what's not...in life and art."
